What is a Soul Dog?

A soul dog is a term used to describe a dog with whom a person shares a deep, almost spiritual bond — a connection that goes beyond companionship and feels profound, rare, and life-altering. It’s the kind of dog that:

  • Feels like they were meant for you — as if your paths were destined to cross.

  • Understands you intuitively, often sensing your moods and responding without being asked.

  • Feels irreplaceable, no matter how many dogs you’ve loved or will love in the future.

  • Changes your life, often teaching you important lessons, healing parts of you, or helping you grow emotionally or spiritually.

  • Many people say their soul dog “just knew” them — they didn’t have to train the connection, it simply was.

It’s similar in concept to the idea of a soulmate, but in the form of a four-legged, tail-wagging, fur-covered being. Not everyone has a soul dog, and some are lucky enough to experience that bond more than once in their lifetime. In this series of images, I am looking to capture serious, emotional and meaningful images that speak to the heart of your connection with your pet.

Images will be photographed in Black and White in my studio based out of Washougal WA.

There is no cost to submit to the project; however, spaces for this project are limited. This will be an on going project with 1 pair selected each month to be highlighted.

If you have a very special bond with your soul pet, please complete the form below! I’d love to meet you, learn more about your relationship and document the bond you both share. I will be in touch with you to schedule your session. Thank you so much for submitting!
